Vision:
Safe and efficient transportation.
Goals:
To continue providing the safest and most efficient transportation for Kaufman ISD students and personnel.
To replace all school vehicles 15 years or older with newer vehicles.
To equip all school buses with A/C.
The KISD Transportation Department is currently running 39 daily routes. The district averages 1,600 miles per day, not including the many Extra/Co-Curricular trips that are scheduled each week. At present, we are transporting an average of 1,900 students per day.
Bus Route Information
Bus Route Information is available through the Stopfinder app!
If your students did not ride the bus last year and you need to register your student(s) to ride the bus, you must fill out the Bus Registration form in Skyward during enrollment/registration.
Bus Procedures in addition to those in the Student Handbook
Students will no longer be allowed to ride home with friends or go to an address that the student has not been registered for. Should your student(s) need to register for a second address you will need to contact the Transportation Department at 972-932-6555. Students will not be allowed to register for more than two addresses. Please allow up to 3 days for changes or new addresses to go into effect.
Student safety
Student safety is the primary concern of the Transportation Department. Statistics show that the most dangerous time for a student riding the school bus is the loading and unloading process. It is critical that students are visible to the driver and out of the bus danger zones when the bus is in motion. This rule applies to loading and unloading both at homes/neighborhoods and at schools. If students are crossing the street, they should move immediately out of the danger zone and proceed at least 15 feet in front of the bus before crossing the street.
NOTE: Students dropped off at their homes must not go to the mailboxes until after the bus leaves.
