Trumpet

Lena Hughes is a music educator and trumpet performer based in East Texas. She has assisted many schools with private lessons and rehearsals to give students a competitive edge, as well as preparing students for scholarship opportunities. She began studying Music Education at Stephen F. Austin State University. She was a member and section leader of the Lumberjack Marching Band, played in the Swingin’ Axes Jazz Band, Roarin’ Buzzsawszzs Basketball Pep Band, Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, Trumpet Ensemble, and University Band on French horn. She is an alumni of the Tau Beta Sigma, Beta Zeta chapter and served as the Alumni officer and secretary. She is currently studying Music Education at the University of Texas at Tyler with trumpet instruction from Dr. Jeremy McBain. She is a member of the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Trumpet Ensemble, and Trumpet Sextet. She is also a member of the Lake Country Symphonic Band, a community organization based in Mineola, TX. Lena believes that music programs can greatly influence a student’s discipline, academic success, and even their quality of life. Her goal is to foster a learning environment that is student-centered and high-achieving.

Bassoon

Robert Harter is a bassoonist in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He is Principal Bassoonist with the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra and Second Bassoonist with the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra. Robert holds a master’s degree in music performance from Southern Methodist University, where he studied with the principal bassoonist of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Ted Soluri. Robert also holds a bachelor’s degree in music performance from the University of Miami, where he studied with Gabriel Beavers.

As a teacher, Robert believes in providing his students with the tools, knowledge, and experience necessary to develop their musicianship to the highest level. 

Clarinet

Alondra Esperanza Nina Meneces is a Clarinet freelance Performer, Clinician, and Teacher based in the DFW Metroplex. She initiated her music studies in the Eduardo Laredo Institute (Cochabamba-Bolivia), where the curiosity over the classical music repertoire led her to expand her knowledge assisting to multiple national festivals, earning her the 1st prize in the First National Competition for Bolivian Saxophonists and Clarinetists (2006) and a Clariperu’s scholarship to assist to the South’s Woodwinds Convention (2010).

Looking to expand her performance abilities, Alondra migrated to the United States in 2014 to start her Undergraduate Degree in Music Performance and pursue a Graduate Degree at University of North Texas; under Dr. Patricia P. Card and Dr. Phillip O. Paglialonga respectively. She has assisted and performed in multiple Band, Orchestral, and Clarinet festivals in Bolivia, Argentina, Houston and Dallas such as Tucuman’s First Clarinet Festival, Franco-Chapaco Festival, International Clarinet Workshop, The Clarinet Sessions, Texas Band Master Association, and others. She has served as Principal Clarinet in different ensembles such as Cochabamba Philharmonic Orchestra, Bolivia Philharmonic Orchestra, Franco-Chapaco Orchestra, SHSU Wind Ensemble, SHSU Symphonic Orchestra and CBDNA Intercollegiate Ensemble; and performed with the UNT Wind Ensemble and UNT Wind Orchestra throughout her master’s degree. She offered Bb clarinet and Bass clarinet Masterclasses on State Audition Repertoire, and Band Camp Masterclasses at Byron Nelson High School.

Alondra’s interests in the music world include the performance of music written by under-looked or unknown composers, as well as involvement into projects that look for the democratization of Classical Music. She currently teaches at Northwest ISD, Little Elm ISD, and Kaufman ISD. Through her teaching , she hopes to ignite in her students the idea that no matter what their circumstances are, through hard work and practice, anything is possible.

Low Brass

 Noah Dorsey

Noah Dorsey is a Trombone player from Forney, Texas. He went to college at Texas A&M University-Commerce, where he studied under Jimmy Clark, and received his Bachelors in Music Education in May of 2022. He has had many opportunities to play with and learn from the best players around during his time in Commerce including people like Brian Hecht, Zach Bond, Peter Steiner, and Joe Alessi. Noah teaches in Forney ISD and Kaufman ISD and believes in providing students with the tools necessary to succeed in a competitive musical environment.
